Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy often comes with questions. Here are some common things people ask before beginning services with The Healing Promise.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on before starting therapy?

No. Many people begin therapy knowing only that something feels heavy, confusing, or difficult to carry alone. We can start there, and together we’ll figure out what support looks like for you.

Who do you provide therapy for?

I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship struggles, self-esteem concerns, and burnout. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’ve done this work before, sessions are shaped around where you are right now.

What can therapy help with?

Therapy can support you with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and communication patterns, self-worth, life transitions, and burnout. It can also simply be a space to feel heard, understood, and less alone.

What happens during the first session?

Our first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll talk through what brought you to therapy, a bit of your history, and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — we move at whatever pace feels right for you.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in session is confidential and protected by law, with a small number of exceptions required by ethical and legal guidelines, such as safety concerns. I’ll walk you through these exceptions clearly during our first session.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can book a free consultation or a session directly through the “Schedule Online” button, or reach out through the Contact page and I’ll follow up to find a time that works well for you.

Do you offer group therapy?

Yes. Group therapy offers a supportive setting to connect with others who understand what you’re going through, guided by thoughtful facilitation in a confidential space.

Do you offer clinical supervision?

Yes. I provide clinical supervision for associate and pre-licensed clinicians who want to grow their skills with grounded, ethical, and compassionate guidance.

Do you provide trainings or workshops?

Yes. I offer trauma-informed trainings and consultation for organizations and teams who want to build a more compassionate, informed approach to care.

What is The Promise Space?

The Promise Space is a supportive digital space offering tools, prompts, and resources for ongoing reflection between sessions. It’s a companion to therapy, not a replacement for it.

What is Promise Me Collective?

Promise Me Collective is a community built around shared healing, connection, and growth — a space where people can support one another beyond the therapy room.

Are the products in the shop a replacement for therapy?

No. Items in The Promise Shop are designed to support reflection, grounding, and intentional self-care, but they are not a substitute for professional therapy or medical care.
